Thought for the Day:
Just because you taught it, doesn't mean they learned it.
What did you do to ensure success today? How did you promote understanding of all concepts with your students? Did you consider differentiating instruction to meet the varying abilities and learning styles? Did you offer multiple methods of engagement, presentation of materials and demonstration of what they learned?
If so, I commend you. If not, I highly recommend spending time at CAST.org. Your students will benefit.

Thsi reminds me of a silly joke I heard a while back.
A man is walking his dog and encounters a friend. He tells his friend that he taught his dog to sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".
The friend is incredulous and asks the dog to sing. "Come on Fido, sing."
The dog is silent.
The friend says again "Come on Fido, let's hear Twinkle Twinkle..."
The dog remains silent.
The friend then says "I thought you said you taught your dog to sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".?"
The man says "I did. He just didn't learn it."

Your question, "What did you do to ensure success today?" really caught my attention.
It's very tempting for me to find books, websites, etc. for both teachers and students. You've reminded me to rein in my impatience and try to talk learners through a process, let them try it for themselves.
Thanks for reminding me to be a bit more of a facilitator, a bit less of an instructor.
